Milburn Academy provides educational programs for students to earn their high school diplomas, transfer credits back to their home school, or to gain employment experience.
Milburn Academy offers its program in a private school setting, with small class sizes and flexible scheduling. Milburn offers courses that mirror course offerings of both Prince William County and Fairfax County Public Schools. Courses consist of science, mathematics, English/language arts, social studies, and various electives. Milburn also offers students the opportunity to participate in the Transition-to-Work program, which aides students in the successful transition from high school to the workforce. Credits are transferable to all other accredited public and/or private high schools. The Milburn program operates on a fourteen week system during the fall and winter. Classes are taught Monday through Thursday, with classes being offered two days per week: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Additional Saturday meetings may also be required for fall and winter sessions. The summer session meets for eight weeks, four days per week from 3:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Milburn Academy curriculum is based on clearly defined standards for learning (The Virginia Standards of Learning).
Milburn Academy offers students a standard high school diploma that is accepted by the U.S. military, colleges, universities, technical schools and employers throughout the country. Our school focuses on developing student potential for success by using nontraditional, flexible scheduling and student-based outcomes to adapt curriculum content and instructional strategies.
